Taylor Field Head

Taylor Field, the home of the Saskatchewan Roughriders and Riderpriders everywhere. Fans love it and opponents dread playing in the land of the Green Machine. A place where there’s a crazy sea of Green and White going wild before, during, and after the battle. A place where the noise can be deafening. A place that created the very definition of the 13th man.

Taylor Field is built on the original site of the field of Park Hughes. The Saskatchewan franchise played there until 1927 when a new field was created by combining that field with the neighbouring Park de Young. The field was grass until 1946 when turf was installed to improve the playing surface.

In 1947, Park de Young was renamed Taylor Field after Neil “Piffles” Taylor. Taylor was a prominent rugby and football player. He was also a coach and administrator for the franchise until his untimely death at the age of 48 in 1947.

Maxtron Over the years, the City of Regina and the Riders continued to improve Taylor Field adding more seats, press boxes, club seating, better dressing rooms and team facilities, along with second deck, multiple turfs and more. The most recent addition have been an upgraded sound system and the Sasktel Maxtron, a High Definition video board that improves the experience of the game.

Taylor Field has been home to countless games of importance including the 1995 and 2003 Grey Cup games. However, in Saskatchewan every game is an important game. There’s something about Taylor Field. It doesn’t matter if the Riders are 12-2 or 2-12, you can never count them out at home. Taylor Field is and will continue to be an environment where the opponents find it very difficult to win. There is an aura, an energy at Taylor Field that you can’t find anywhere else. It is that feeling and sense of tradition that makes Taylor Field legendary.

In June of 2006, Taylor Field became part of 21st century capitalism. The Roughriders and City of Regina found another way to gain revenue by granting the naming rights of Taylor Field to a company called Mosaic. The home of the Riders is now officially named Mosaic Stadium at Taylor Field, since the street closest to the building was renamed Taylor Field Rd. In the hearts and minds of all Riders fans Mosaic Stadium will forever be known as Taylor Field.
